The Baltic Institute of Finland (BIF), established in 1994, is an in-house unit of the City of Tampere, specializing in EU project development and management. It is a key collaborative body for the Baltic Sea region in Finland and one of the leading organizations for macro-regional and European regional cooperation. BIF focuses on planning and coordinating impactful projects while fostering an extensive network of partners across the Baltic Sea region and Europe. In 2024, BIF carried out a total of 18 projects or assignments. As a result of its project preparation efforts, 11 projects received positive funding decisions in 2024, amounting to a total of 13,6 million euros.

BIF is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated professional to work as a Project Management Specialist in the following three Interreg Europe funded projects:
  • AI4Citizens – Supporting ethical and effective AI governance in European cities and regions (BIF assigned by the Lead Partner, City of Tampere, to support in project management and coordination, Interreg Europe 2nd call project, https://www.interregeurope.eu/ai4citizens)
  • ICSI EU – Intensifying Cross-Sectoral Innovation within the European Union (BIF participates as a partner, Interreg Europe 3rd call project, https://www.interregeurope.eu/icsi-eu)
  • SafeSkills – Increasing Regional Availability of Skilled Labour in Safety and Security Sectors (BIF assigned by the Lead Partner, Business Tampere, to support in project management and coordination, Interreg Europe 3rd call project, https://www.interregeurope.eu/safeskills)
Job content:

Managing and coordinating the above Interreg Europe projects/related assignments at BIF, and possibly other projects in the future as part of the BIF team: Reporting and other general project coordination tasks, communication and supporting the Lead Partners in other project tasks.

We expect you to have:

– Experience in EU funded projects (experience with Interreg /Interreg Europe projects especially beneficial)
– A relevant higher education degree
– Strong communication, organizational and collaboration skills
– Strong spoken and written proficiency in English
– Ability to work independently and take ownership of the assigned tasks
– Ability to work as part of a team in an international collaboration project

Additionally, we value experience in the topics of urban and regional development and innovation policies.

Location of employment: BIF office in Tampere, with flexible remote working options.

The position is fixed-term from Spring/Summer 2025 to Spring/Summer 2027 (the ideal start date is ASAP, early summer 2025, at the latest).
