Sub-regions in the Baltic Sea region are developing their regional innovation/smart specialisation (S3) strategies in line with the EU Green Deal and with increasing focus on interregional cooperation. The outcomes of BSR S3 Ecosystem platform project (2019-2021) offer valuable guidance for the effective and coordinated utilisation of EU 2021-2027 opportunities, including utilisation of the new EU funding instrument for interregional innovation investments (I3). The outcomes provide also insights for the regions to develop their innovation policies and smart specialisation strategies for sustainability (S4) focusing on inclusive innovation and green & digital transition.
The Baltic Institute of Finland as a partner of the BSR S3 Ecosystem platform and coordinator of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Policy Area Innovation facilitate the joining up of forces in the development of solutions for common challenges in the BSR macro-region, promote better coordination of funding sources for more strategic interregional cooperation, and enhance a globally competitive position and visibility of the BSR.
Please find the article on the outcomes and key conclusions of the BSR S3 Ecosystem platform at the EUSBSR PA INNO website.
The final seminar of the BSR S3 platform will be organised on 22 September 2021 in close cooperation with Region Västerbotten, Sweden and Aalto University, Finland.
