The winner city of the 2017 European Capital of Innovation competition was announced at the Lisbon Web Summit on 7 November. The winner is Paris (EUR 1 Mln) and two runners-up are Tallinn and Tel Aviv (EUR 100 000 each).
City of Tampere was selected among the 10 finalist cities, which provided international publicity and innovation networks for the City. The selection criteria is based on the successful interaction of the city with companies, universities, NGOs and citizens. Tampere application Grow.Smart.Together describes smart city district Hiedanranta and several other cases how Tampere operates as a living laboratory and provides opportunities for co-creation and urban planning with citizens.
Vice Mayor Anna-Kaisa Heinämäki participated in the Lisbon Summit and received the finalist prize of Tampere.
