BSR Stars S3 project focuses on Improving capacities and knowledge of regional authorities, business and research to implement regional smart specialisation (S3) strategies and utilise international opportunities, especially in the Baltic Sea Region. The project tests tools and methods for the development of new value chains and connecting stakeholders within the bio-, circular and digital economy focus areas. The aim is to enhance new partnerships and business/research cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region.

The project was kicked off on 14 June with a partner meeting among Finnish, Swedish, Danish, Lithuanian and Norwegian partners. On 15 June a bioeconomy seminar was organised in Campusarena within Tampere University of Technology. A Finnish MEP Sirpa Pietikäinen sent video greetings for the seminar participants. Other speakers of the seminar were Director Petri Räsänen from Council of Tampere Region, CEO Sakari Ermala from Verte Ltd, Gloria Zuniga representing Ecomation company, Executive Director Tiina Kähö from Helsinki Metropolitan Smart & Clean Foundation and Dr. Karin Oyaas from Paper and Fibre Research Institute, Trondheim.
