The University of Umeå has established special resources aimed at building bridges of mutual understanding between education/research and society/industry. The university has experience in developing financial instruments to support innovative processes between applied research and SMEs. The Faculty of Science and Technology at Umeå University has over 5 500 students and more than 350 research students, and its research is of world class.
In VBN InnoReg project the University of Umeå is responsible for participating in training events in partner regions as a lecturer and developing further tools and methods designed for successful collaboration between research and SMEs in innovative processes, and finding best practice in this area as their pilot project.
