The Council develops the region jointly with 16 municipalities, 165 000 inhabitants and enterprises. It attends to regional development, regional land-use planning and supervises regional interest in general. The Regional Council of Häme acted as a Lead Partner and co-ordinator of the previous Via Baltica Nordica Development Zone project in 2002-2005.
In the VBN InnoReg project the Regional Council of Häme acts as an expert partner in the creation of joint innovation approach for the VBN macro-region.
