The project SPb InnoReg - Promoting Regional Innovation System in St. Petersburg through Transnational Cooperation aims to promote sustainable economic development and competitiveness in the city of St. Petersburg. This is done by strengthening the regional innovation system (RIS) and improving utilization of the innovation and research potential of St. Petersburg in cooperation between Finnish, German and Russian partners.
The project activities are designed to enhance international networking and collaboration between regional authorities, universities, technology centres and enterprises. In addition, the project aims to ensure better cooperation possibilities between Russia and the EU in the field of fostering innovations.
The project is coordinated by the Baltic Institute of Finland and co-financed by the EU Baltic Sea Region Interreg IIIB Programme. Project duration is 33 months between 8/2007- 2/2010.
