Nordic Council of Ministers and Baltic Institute of Finland organised the meeting of journalists and copyright and intellectual property protection (IPR) experts on 14 May 2009.
The IPR St. Petersburg project round table with representatives of mass media was organised at the Information office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in St Petersburg on 14 May 2009. Mika Boedeker, director of the Information office of the NCM opened the meeting and underlined the importance of IPR protection in the modern society.
The IPR experts familiarised the participants with the following topics:
- intellectual property rights of journalists working in newspaper, radio, TV, photo and art industry;
- interaction between journalists and employers;
- interview copyright;
- legal and judicial practice and current IPR legislation.
The speakers were: Pavel Savitsky, Head of intellectual property practice, “Mannheimer Swartling”; Valery Mordvinov, Vice-President, Association of patent attorneys of St. Petersburg; Elena Bedareva, lawyer, Russian and Eurasian patent attorney, “Salans”.
During the meeting IPR experts answered the questions related to the protection of Intellectual property of journalists and photographers and explained the procedure when the Intellectual property rights have been violated.
