Joint seminar and study visit to Tartu, Estonia

New Challenges of eParticipation

Tartu City Government held the 5th joint seminar and study visit 6-9 June 2011 in Tartu, Estonia targeting at project partners. The topic of the seminar was New Challenges of eParticipation. The topics presented and discussed in the seminar are closely related to the future of the eParticipation: internet voting and campaigning; open data initiatives and new models of the public services; privacy, identity and security in the Internet and social media. New joint e- initiatives of the Estonian municipalities were presented to the participants. Project partners introduced their ongoing activities and initiatives in adopting the latest web-based solutions and social media tools for interacting with citizens.

 

Ms. Kristina Reinsalu from the eGovernancet Academy gave an overview of the

e-Estonia activities as well as the e-Campaign results in the Estonian parliament elections in 2011.  Keynote presentation on the future of information society by Mr. Daniel Vaarik, writer and analyst, Chairman of the Board of Centre of Political Studies Praxis. Estonian iVoting principles, legal, organizational and technical solution were presented by Mr. Priit Vinkel, senior adviser of the Central Election Committee.
