How to do more with less?
Challenges of technology and procurement to build up modern eParticipation tools

Province of Flevoland was in charge of the sixth joint seminar and study visit to Amsterdam and city of Almere 20 – 22 September 2011. The three day seminar was targeting at partners to discuss together issues related to challenges of technology and procurement in developing up-to-date eParticipation tools and eGovernment in general. In total 27 representatives of the partners attended the seminar. Experts from Netherlands were invited to introduce international, local approach and good practices in the field of eParticipation, eGovernment services, innovation supporting mechanisms, innovative solutions and approaches in the governance.
Mr. Martijn Kriens, Ms. Katalin Gallyas and Mr.Gijs van Rijn from the Amsterdam Innovation Motor described in their presentations innovative e-participation projects initiated by the City of Amsterdam and future challenges of the participation and electronic tools developed for it.
Mayor of the city of Dronten, Mr. Aat de Jonge, gave an overview of the eGovernment development in the Netherlands together Mr. Willem Alexander Scholten, senior consultant. Mr. Jan Dirk Pruim introduced the eParticipation topics in the dual political system of the Flevoland city of Almere. Mr. Ruben Nieuwenhuis, strategic consultant, moderated discussion of the participants on the subject of new challenges for the governance patterns.
