Kick-off Seminar for the Northern eDimension Action Plan, 6-7 November 2001, Tampere

The Northern eDimension Action Plan (NeDAP) prepared by the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and the European Commission, was adopted at the CBSS Ministerial Meeting on Information Society in Riga in September 2001.

In November the Baltic Institute of Finland, eTampere, and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland prepared a kickoff seminar for NeDAP. The seminar was organized in Tampere in connection with MindTrek - the Tampere International Media Week 2001.

The seminar brought together representatives of the CBSS, the European Commission, and ICT specialists from business, government, and R&D to discuss NeDAP's implementation. In addition, project examples of various NeDAP Action Lines were presented during the seminar.


A Workshop on Subregional Contribution to the Northern Dimension, 8 May 2001, Umeå, Sweden

The aim of the workshop was to discuss the ways of promoting subregional projects in the framework of the Northern Dimension and the CBSS. Representatives of the Swedish EU presidency, the CBSS, and the CPMR spoke about their approaches to the Northern Dimension. After the presentations, three subregional project cases were introduced and their promotion in the Northern Dimension context was discussed.


Environmental Training and Development Needs of Polish Seaside Provinces, November 2000

A workshop Fenno-Polish Environmental Cooperation: Environmental Training and Development Needs of Polish Seaside Provinces was organized by the Baltic Institute of Finland and Environmental Technology Center Neopoli in Tampere in November 2000.


ISPA Workshop, October 2000

The Baltic Institute of Finland organized in Lithuania in October 2000 a workshop on the EU ISPA programme. The workshop was a part of the environmental seminar organized in Vilnius by the Lifelong Learning Center Dipoli of the Helsinki University of Technology.


The VI ICCEES World Congress in Tampere, August 2000 

The VI ICCEES World Congress for Central and East European Studies was held in Tampere between 29 July-3 August 2000. During the congress, the Baltic Institute of Finland organized a roundtable session under the headline: The Baltic Sea Region in the New Integrating Europe.


A Finnish-Lithuanian Contact Forum on Environment and Business, june 2000

The Baltic Institute of Finland and the Institute of Environmental Engineering at the Kaunas University of Technology organized a Finnish-Lithuanian Contact Forum on Environment and Business. The event was held in Lithuania in June 2000. The purpose of the forum was to boost environment sector cooperation between the Kaunas and Tampere regions.


A Seminar on Managing Environmental Protection Problems, February 2000

A joint Finnish-Estonian seminar on environmental protection was organized by the Baltic Institute of Finland, the City of Tartu, and the City of Tampere. The seminar took place in Tartu, Estonia on 2 February 2000. Representatives of Tampere, Tartu and Tartu County, environment protection specialists, as well as Finnish and Estonian environmental technology companies participated in the event.


Hansa Business Days, 1996

Hansa Business Days 1996 was a conference and a contact meeting for more than 400 business executives from the Baltic Sea region. This event was organized in cooperation with the Baltic Sea Chambers of Commerce Association and the Tampere Chamber of Commerce.


The 2nd International Baltic Workshop on Databases and Information Systems, 1996

The 2nd International Baltic Workshop on Databases and Information Systems was organized in 1996 in cooperation with the Institute of Cybernetics in Estonia.


Networks and Communication in the Baltic Sea Area, 1995

The Institute organized in 1995 a workshop on Networks and Communication in the Baltic Sea Area. The workshop was prepared in cooperation with the Council of the Baltic Sea States and the Baltic Institute of Sweden.
