TURKU STUDY TOUR 14-16 DECEMBER 2006
eCitizen participants in Turku

Turku has developed JoutseNet 3 system as part of its eGovernment activities in eCitizen, and utilises the system in reaching for paperless office. Study tour participants heard a presentation on the background of the system, saw its demonstration, and were able to discuss Turku's system in comparison with their own e-services for the city administration. Furhermore, the participants were acquainted with examples of other innovative projects of Turku, which were concentrating on offering eServices for the citizens. The day allowed the partners also to start discussions on the future of eCitizen project cooperation.

Presentations

JoutseNet 3 consists of two parts: eGovernment Desktop for city administrators and Citizens' eGovernment. In eCitizen Turku has so far concentrated  on the first part, which makes the processes within the administration more efficient, and for examples reduces the turnaround time for the preparation of matters. Furthermore, eGovernment Desktop reduces the amount of paper used in the administration.

Citizens' eGovernment will be the next target, and first questions to be tackled with are connected to authentication, e-signatures and limitations of both city-level and national architectures.
