BOLOGNA
Study tour participants in the Bologna city hall

The second study tour in the eCitizen project took place in Bologna, Italy, 16-17 December 2005. Participants from all the project components were invited to attend, since the city of Bologna is highly advanced in all the key subject areas of the project. Participants from Tampere, Vaasa, Tartu, Kaunas and Trento were introduced impressive eServices already available for citizens as well as plans for further development.

During the first day, several city projects on developing electronic services, eGovernment, web-based services were introduced. Also nearby cities of Modena and Verona cooperating with Bologna were invited to introduce their ongoing smart card and eDemocracy initiatives. Bologna has successfully facilitated and enhanced collaboration between public and private sectors in design and implementation of the eGovernment projects. In addition to traditional solutions for electronic services, Bologna is exploiting the latest technology in developing GIS and virtual city maps in 3D.

The second day of the study tour was devoted to introduction of projects on developing local digital TV, Iperbole Civic Network on eDemocracy and semantic problems in web-site content development.

Partners of the component 3 on eServices organized a meeting after the joint seminar. The participants introduced their on-going activities and the forthcoming events in 2006. The next component 3 meeting will be organized in connection with the next steering committee meeting in March 2006 in Tartu.
